Head + General Mod // KEATSBLUE
Heya, I'm Keats! In addition to working as the Head Mod of BNHA-borne, I'm a long-standing fan writer and an avid gamer. I'm currently contributing to a few other zines, including Breakaway: A Hawks Zine and Pro Hero Academia! I'm absolutely thrilled that my fellow mods have joined me in bringing this wonderful project to life and look forward to working with our future contributors.

Hi, I am Anori! I am mostly a lurker in the BNHA community and love looking at fanart art and reading fics, but I very much enjoy drawing (some of) the pro-heroes, but mostly I work with original characters, and a lot of fantasy-inspired art. I have worked in the publishing business for around a year and am very excited to apply some of that knowledge to this zine!
I am so happy to be here and be part of the mod team for BNHA-borne, and it will be my first time participating as a mod rather than a contributor. Can't wait to work with everyone!

Hi!! My name is Mookie~ I'm an artist in the BNHA fandom but I dabble in writing too. I also do original works but I seldom post them on my Twitter, you can find it on my tumblr! I do deal with some dark themes so beware-- this includes blood and gore. I'm an Archeologist grad student irl and I'm very passionate about it and my experiences on the field. I love questions about it so don't be shy!
I am currently an artist and merch artist in the BNHA monster ball event and I am the head finance and shipping mod for the upcoming Reign zine. Hopefully I will have more to come!
I'm very excited to be here and working on this zine. It's going to be a jolly good time!

Hi, I'm Mari! This will be my first time being a part of a mod team, but I've been a writer in three zines and I'm excited to be a part of this project! Most of the short stories and poems I've written have either been horror or have elements of horror and (while I love these characters to death) I'm really interested in seeing what everyone comes up with when BNHA mixes with Bloodborne.

What we're looking for
Given the zine's NSFW rating, all applicants must be 18+ to participate in the zine. Artist and writer applications will be reviewed by our Head Artist and Head Writer, respectively. Applications will be ranked based on a rubric system before being fielded for discussion by all mods. In general, we are looking for contributors with passion for the project and our desire to make this zine something great!
WRITER RUBRIC
Voice: Does the writer have a unique style that creates an unforgettable experience for the reader? Do they incorporate their own ideas or follow the fandom norms?
Characterization: Are characters depicted more or less as dictated canon? Do they interact with other characters or their environment in a manner that one might find reasonable?
Description: Does the writer paint a visceral image of the setting? Does the writer choose their words carefully to bring across an intended effect?
Action: Is the writer able to construct effective action scenes, including but not limited to combat? Are action scenes cookie-cutter and repetitive or heart-racing and page-turning?
Convention: Are rule for grammar/punctuation followed?
Overall Creepiness: If applicable to the samples submitted, is the writer able to convey a true horror setting? Would a reader feel unsettled in an exciting way while reading this writer’s work?
Important consideration: Do the themes in the submitted work address horror in such a way that abides by the construct of material to be accepted by the zine (no abuse, non/dub con or ships between adults and minors)?

Conventions: Are conventions such as color theory, balance in value, composition, etc. being followed?
Overall Creepiness: If applicable to the samples submitted, is the artist able to convey a true horror setting? Would a viewer feel unsettled in an exciting way?

FAQ
SFW OR NSFW?
We are aiming for our zine to be NSFW from a primarily horror-driven perspective. We plan to allow our contributors to create works with 18+ sexual content, so long as the works fit our theme - "insight gives rise to madness." While we do not intend for our zine to feature primarily sexual content (we prefer our NSFW to be mostly due to violence/gore), we will be accepting a limited number of works of this nature. We will report this number once we have it.
IS THIS ZINE FOR PROFIT OR CHARITY?
For Profit, to be divided evenly between mods and contributors.
CAN I APPLY FOR MORE THAN ONE POSITION?
Yes, you may apply for as many positions as you desire, as long as you fill out the relevant applications. For example, you can fill out both the artist and writer applications! Or, in filling out the main artist app, when so directed you can include information for both comic art and merch if you wish to be considered for both slots.
However, please understand that since any one position will be responsible for creating either two art pieces or a full 3k words respectively, you will only be accepted for one position as either an artist or writer. For artists, if you qualify for multiple slots, you will be given a chance to sign up for the slot you prefer on a first-come, first-serve basis.
WILL THIS ZINE ACCEPT TRADITIONAL ART?
Yes, we plan to accept traditional art so long as it is scanned in with a resolution of 300 dpi or greater. If you plan on contributing traditional art to the zine, please link some of your previous traditional-style pieces in your portfolio!
CAN MY SAMPLES/PORTFOLIO INCLUDE NSFW?
Yes, so long as you include appropriate trigger warnings when prompted during your application.
WILL THE ZINE BE EXCLUSIVE TO ANIME AND/OR MANGA CONTENT?
The zine will be anime-only content excluding Shirakumo/Loud Cloud as he's part of the basis for our logo and spoilers about his plotline have recently become more widespread. If your application samples contain manga spoilers please add a spoiler tag!
ARE WE REQUIRED TO HAVE BNHA OR BLOODBORNE SAMPLES?
No, you are not required to have completed works in either fanverse (Bloodborne or BNHA) to apply. However, samples including said works are much appreciated, as it allows us to better assess how your style could blend with our fandoms of interest!
WILL I BE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION TO BE A CONTRIBUTOR?
No, you will not be asked to provide us personal information. The most we may request from you is a valid shipping address in order to get your physical copy of the zine sent to you, should we hit our sales goal!

Zine Theme: “Insight gives rise to madness”
BNHA-BORNE is a horror-themed zine featuring BNHA characters in the Victorian and Eldritch-inspired hit game, Bloodborne. Venture with us into this rich, alternate universe and perhaps you too might rise above all hunters, ascending to greatness in one blood-pumping journey.
There will be a main and mini zine, the main featuring four distinct sections that mark the progression of the game. From beastly to eldritch and blood-craze to ascension, these are the four sections that will shape our journey:

If sales permit, all contributors will receive a physical copy of the zine and its merchandise. All contributors are entitled to a complimentary copy of our digital zine PDF, our digital merch, and any products made for our Choir (a select group of our most avid social media followers). After covering expenses, any leftover profits will be divided among contributors and moderators. Payments will be via PayPal.

artist requirements
All artists will be required to complete two pages (or pieces) during production. One single-paged solo piece and one collab page or merch item. Collabs can either be with a writer (producing one page of imagery) or an artist (producing a partnered double-page spread or comic).
COVER ARTIST
Illustrating the front and back covers. The cover artist will be in communication with our graphics mod about how to best fit our graphics and formatting layouts.
May volunteer to take on border art, spot illustrations or any available collabs.
page ARTIST
Creating an original, full-color piece. Contributors have the ability to choose which section of the zine they will create their solo piece for and submit pitches on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Page artists will also be assigned a secondary slot pertaining to their second piece. Please indicate within your application if you are interested in comic art/spread collab or merch.
MERCH ARTIST
Merch design is available as a secondary slot for our page artist contributors. There will not be an application for merch artists, exclusively.
Digital or physical merch
If selected as a merch artist for your secondary slot, you will be responsible for creating pieces such as acrylic charms, sticker sheets, buttons, washi tape, desktop wallpapers, etc. Specific merch to be offered will be coordinated further by our Head Artist.
writer requirements
Writers will be required to write fanfics featuring BNHA characters within the Bloodborne ‘verse. Two options are available for writers, but in either case, our writer contributors will be responsible for a total of 3k words for the main zine.
First option: a 3k solo fic, which will not include collaboration. There will be only 2 slots for this option available within the main zine, and they will be assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Second option: a 1.5k solo fic + a 1.5k collaborative fic with an artist. Slots for this option will be available throughout our zine’s various sections, and can be claimed on a first-come, first-serve basis.
